Educo’s new Country Director for Bangladesh, Abdul Hamid, assumed his office in Dhaka on April 21, 2020.

With experience of more than 27 years in the development sector, Mr. Hamid joined Educo in March 2018, and served as Director, Program Operations for Bangladesh country program. Before joining Educo, he worked for United Purpose, NADEP, OXFAM-GB, and BRAC in several key positions and gathered experience of managing major donors’ funds such as USAID, EU, DFID, Cordaid, Big Lottery Fund-UK and Dutch Lottery Fund. He has experience of working in several sectors including education, disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation, livelihood, health, WASH, emergency response and rehabilitation and protection in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Bhutan, China and Pakistan.

Mr. Hamid holds Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Victoria University of Technology (VUT), Melbourne, Australia with specialization in International Business. He completed a short course on School Health Promotion from University of London, UK. He has sound knowledge and skills in project management including project development, designing and planning, administration and management of staff, and financial management. He has experience of resource mobilization and fund management, and capacity of negotiation and advocacy at different levels. He possesses a strong sense of team building and a good understanding of partnership management and networking.

I wish to see Educo as one of the best child rights-based organizations in Bangladesh and want to keep serving the most marginalized and vulnerable children from the underserved communities in Bangladesh.”

In his role as Educo’s Country Director for Bangladesh, Abdul Hamid will lead the process of formulating and implementing Bangladesh’s country programmatic framework and organizational development plan and shifting focus from direct implementation to creating partnerships in efforts to transform into a catalytic organization.
