A national level dialogue session on “Sensitization of the employers to facilitate education for the children engaged in transport sector” was held at Daily Star Centre on 15 September 2019 under the “Options for Dignity of Human being by Influencing Key Actors to Reform (ODHIKAR)” project of Educo. The project has been implemented by the Eco Social Development Organization (ESDO) with technical support of Education and Development Foundation- Educo and financial support of Child Fund Korea (CFK) to reduce the Child labour and exploitation in domestic and transport sector in Dhaka city.

Md. Mujibul Haque, MP, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee, Ministry of Labour and Employment was present in the dialogue session as chief guest. A K M Rafiqul Islam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment and Johny M Sarker, Country Director, Educo were present as special guests.

In his speech Md. Mojibul Haque expressed the commitment of the government to eradicate child labour and urged the employers not to involve children in transport sector as it is one of the most hazardous jobs for children.

Mr. Johny M Sarker, Country Director, Educo asserted Educo’s willingness to support the government in eliminating child labour from Bangladesh.

Representatives from different INGOs, NGOs, employers’ associations, labour unions were also present in the program.
