Bangladesh government declared Child Rights Week from October 5 to 11. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually inaugurated the week through a video conference today morning. Since 2009 National Child Rights Week has been observed every year under the leadership of Ministry and Children Affairs. This year the week will be observed in a limited scope due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Like previous years this year also Educo Bangladesh is observing the week in a befitting manner in collaboration with Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum, Joining Forces Bangladesh, National Girls Child Advocacy Forum and Child Rights Coalition in Bangladesh. A series of events have been organized with the participation of children, policy makers, government officials, advocates, civil society members and development partners to commemorate the week.

As a joint effort Educo Bangladesh has published posters on the theme which have been distributed among all key stakeholders at local and national level. A TV talk show titled ‘বৈশ্বিক মহামারী করোনা – শিশুর শিক্ষা, মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য ও মনোসামাজিক সহায়তায় আমাদের করনীয়’ will be telecasted on October 5 on News 24 channel at 11:00 PM. Another talk show named ‘শিশু সংলাপ’ will be telecasted on October 7 at 5:10 PM on RTV.

Educo’s children will virtually participate in a dialogue session with the State Minister of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs on October 6 to observe the National Girl Child day. On said date, ‘Reimagine the World – Children Dhamaka (blast)’ live program will be broadcasted on Radio Today from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. On October 8, 2020 ‘Cognitive Growth in New Normal’ will be live broadcasted on the same radio channel from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Educo’s children will participate in an art competition to be organized on 11 October. On that day a virtual sharing session will be held on Child Situation report 2019 starting at 3:00 PM. Different policy makers, media representatives and key stakeholders will participate in this sharing session.
